Gustaf was born on August 2, 1798, on the farm Karsbol in Nedre Ulleruds parish, Värmlands county. He was the eighth, and last child, of the farmer Olof Andersson and his wife Britta Persdotter. His mother died when Gustaf was only six months old, in January 1799. Later that year his father remarried to Ingerid Larsdotter. They had three more children. Gustaf grow up in Karsbol and lived there until he was married on December 26, 1826, in Nedre Ulleruds church to the maid Maria Nyström from Mosserud in the same parish. They had published their banns on November 5th the same year. In that year Gustaf was 28 years old, his wife Maria 22. After the wedding they settled on the farm Nordsjö in the same parish. In Nordsjö Gustaf was employed within the farming and in the church books was called "GM" (Gifta mannen/The married man). In 1836, the family moved to the farm Nolby in the same parish. There he was employed as a worker. They stayed there for some years, most likely until 1840. In that year they moved to the farm Sjöbråten, also in Nedre Ulleruds parish. On the farm Sjöbråten he was employed within the farming. They lived there until 1851. That year Gustaf was 53 years old and had probably lived a hard life so he had problems to keep on working on a farm. In 1851, the family moved to the farm where his wife had grown up, the farm Mosserud in the same parish, where they lived as dependent (free) lodgers. At that time the family numbered five persons: Gustaf, Maria, the children Johannes and Emil, 16 and 5 years old, and their foster son August Larsson, 3 years. Gustaf and his family lived as dependent (free) lodgers in Mosserud until he died, on May 17, 1852, at an age of 54 years. He died from a stroke and was buried on May 30th.
