Maria Olofsdotter
Maria was born on March 17 1729 on the farm Maloga in Eds parish, Värmlands county. The farm was owned by her father, the framer Olof Olsson and his wife Maria Andersdotter. By the time she, on October 23 1759, got married to the farmhand Christopher Jansson from Kollerud in the same parish, she still lived at home in Malöga. As a morning-gift she got 15 Riksdaler silver. After the wedding she moved to her husband in Kollerud. In August 1780 her husband Christopher died and she became a widdow. By that time she was pregnant with their 12th child, Christopher. This son Christopher as well as his five years older brother Jonas later died from dysentery. They died on the very same day, on August 10 1783, and were buried on the 17th in Eds church. After her husbands death the farm was taken over by their son Anders Christophersson. Maria stayed on the farm for the rest of her life. In 1816 she was, because of her age, fri from tax. In January 1826 also her son Anders died and Maria was by that time alone on the farm. After Anders death his daughter Maria and her husband Bengt Jansson moved in to the farm from the farm Höjen in the same parish. Maria still lived on the farm and died the following year, 88 years old, on February 6 1827. She died from age-weekness and was buried on February 18. By that time she had been a widdow for almost 47 years.
