Jon Tortensson
Jon was born in 1655 on the farm Silkesta in Väse parish, Värmlands county. His parents were the farmer Torsten Jonsson and his wife Kerstin Håkansdotter. After a six years period working as a farmhand, on the farm Prästgården in the same parish, he returned home to Silkesta. He lived in Silkesta until the year 1688, as he married Karin Svensdotter from the farm Southern Mon in the same parish. After the wedding he moved to his wife in Southern Mon. From the churchbooks we also know that Jon knew how to read. He lived in Southern Mon until he died, 74 years old, on January 16 1730. He was buried on January 25.
