Eric Wahlströms cottage at Söderskogen
In one of the houses in Söderskogen lived my great great grandfather, Eric Wahlström
with his family.
(See map!).
Eric worked as a miner at Dannemora Mine. At Söderskogen was also his son, my great grandfather
Matts Wahlström born and there he grov up.
The house that Eric and his family lived in was removed in the last years of the 1960´s. It was not far from the house
of his son Anders. In the end it was used of all the houses at Söderskogen for washing and killing animals.
From the pictures we still have of the house we can see that the house was about 35m2 big.
Around 1920 Matts Wahlström and his brother Carl Wahlström visited the house in Söderskogen, the house where they were born.
The photos below were taken at that time. The photos are from the Östman family photoalbum.

Probably is this photo of Matts och Carl Wahlström
taken at the same time as the photos above.
In 1951 Anders Wahlsröms grand daughter Catherine Wahlström from USA visited Sweden. At that time she took a trip
up to Dannemora and she also visited Söderskogen. Guided her on her trip to Dannemora and Söderskogen did Matts
Wahlstöms grandson Eric Wahlström with his family from Lidingö, just outside Stockholm. From the fotos that was
taken on that visit we can see that tha house was in very bad condition.

Anders Wahlströms house - Mine-hands-cottage 133 A
Anders Wahlström, the son of the miner Eric Wahlström, also became a miner at Dannemora mine.
He and his family lived at Söderskogen, in a house not far from his fathers.
(See map!).
The house, that had the number 133, is still there and it has two separate appartments, 133 A and 133 B. It is
9 X 11,4 meters big, which gives us a house of about 103 m2.

Anders and his family had the appartment whith the entrence to the left, and it was numbered 133 A. In the other
appartment, 133 B, lived the miner Per Wahlström. Who that man was is not yet known.
Anders and Maria Wahlström with the children Wilhelmina, Elida and Josef.
The girls were both born at Söderskogen.
Photo from 1879.
Anders lived in the house until 1870 when he and his family
emigrated
to USA. His house was then taken over by the mine-hand Anders Myrberg.
Until the summer of 2000 the house has had a number of different owners. In the last years it has mostly been used as a
summer house.
This summer the house and the house next to it once again was for sale.
